Heraeus highlights its commitment to the environment and diversity in the 2021-2022 Sustainability Report. With ambitious CO2 reduction targets and a commitment to greater diversity and inclusion, the company demonstrates its leadership in defining a sustainable and inclusive corporate path.
Jan Rinnert, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Managing Directors of Heraeus Group
Heraeus is very proud of the fact that many of its products have a positive impact on the environment. For example, the recycling of precious metals reduces the CO2 footprint by around 98.5 per cent compared to primary materials. Our innovations in iridium catalysts are paving the way for the production of green hydrogen, which is seen as a beacon of hope for the mobility and energy transition. At the same time, our precious metal catalysts play a decisive role in reducing the harmful effects of nitrous oxide, a greenhouse gas that is harmful to the climate. Heraeus is also a major player in the photovoltaic industry. Our silver metallisation paste significantly improves the efficiency of PV modules.
In addition to the environment, our commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) is a pillar of our work. In 2022, we made DEI an overarching priority for the Group. Most of our operating companies have already set their own targets. This accountability ensures that we stay true to our goals and values.
Martina Gieg, Group HR Officer and member of the Group Management Committee.
In summary, the 2021-2022 Sustainability Report impressively demonstrates Heraeus' commitment to sustainable business practices and social responsibility. We are making progress by adapting our products and processes for greater environmental protection and resource efficiency. We are also committed to an inclusive corporate culture that promotes diversity and inclusion. Our target to reduce CO2 emissions by 2030 underlines our commitment to climate change mitigation and a sustainable legacy. These efforts are a promise to our customers, partners and employees that Heraeus is continuously working to create sustainable value for society and the environment.
